November 2009
Dear Colleagues,
As the end-of-year fundraising season gets underway, don't forget to take some time for your professional development. We have plenty of programs to offer and look forward to seeing you in the months to come.
On November 13, our annual Fundraising Boot Camp takes place in Westminster, Carroll County – offering a day of education and networking for novices and more advanced professionals (two tracks are offered). This year's faculty is outstanding, as always, the cost of this program is very reasonable. For more information, click here. To register, click here.
Please join us for our last audio conference of the year on Wednesday, December 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. How to have Conversations with Donors about Planned Gifts will be presented by Kathryn W. Miree, J.D.. Learn how to identify planned giving prospects, use volunteers, and how to open, advance and finish the conversation. This program is generously hosted by GBMC. The first educational program of 2010 will take place on Tuesday, January 19 at Mercy Medical Center. It is my honor to serve as facilitator of Ethics in Fundraising: a Discussion of Practical Problems and their Solutions. During this roundtable workshop we will review fundamental principals and examine several case studies. A list of resources will be provided to all participants. To register, click here. For additional information click here.
If you wish to network with colleagues in a more relaxed setting, then please join us for our free Holiday Happy Hour – to be held on Tuesday, December 15 from 5:30 to 7:30p.m. at Della Rose's in Canton. Click here for more information. Prospective members are especially welcome.
Finally, my thanks to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting last month. I'm delighted to announce that five outstanding chapter members were unanimously approved to join the Board. They are Ray Herman (Everyman Theatre), Laura Lang (John Carroll School), Tara Mulligan (Catholic Relief Services), Phil Recchio (US Lacrosse) and Dianne Thompson (Stevenson University). They each bring a great deal of experience through service on AFP committees and I am sure will do an excellent job in their new leadership roles. A full Board list can be found on our website at www.afpmaryland.org.
Best wishes,
Sarah Fawcett-Lee, CFRE President AFP-Maryland
